The Power Plant, at Haxall Point on Downtown Richmond’s Canal Walk, was the locale for TEDxRVA. Built in 1894, this coal power plant was the source of power behind one of our nation’s most innovative industrial advances: a successful public-transit electric streetcar system. The plant has been dormant since the late 1960s. TEDxRVA awakened this historic landmark to a new era of creativity + innovation with an eclectic & inspiring array of “voices” sharing their passion, purpose and intention from the stage. With its roots in power, movement and creativity, it was the perfect site for TEDxRVA - CREATE.

“Rising from Ashes” is a feature length documentary about two worlds colliding when cycling legend Jock Boyer moves to Rwanda, Africa to help a group of struggling genocide survivors pursue their dream of a national team.
