From Inside Nike Basketball...

House of Hoops Presents Kevin Carroll

An agent for social change shows young NYC athletes how to use sports to make their dreams a reality.

Harlem has long been a neighborhood where dreams are built and stars are born. The Apollo Theater has been a launching pad for countless performers while the neighborhood courts and fields have always been a breeding ground for the world’s greatest sports talent. To continue to provide opportunities and inspiration for young talent to reach their dreams Nike has partnered with House of Hoops to present the athletic instructor, author, speaker and agent for social change Kevin Carroll…

Kevin will share his message with young New York City athletes February 22nd in Harlem at the Hip-Hop Culture Center on Frederick Douglass Boulevard.

After the seminar Kevin will be hosting a book signing at the “House of Hoops, giving out 100 free autographed copies of Rules of the Red Rubber Ball (ESPN Books).

To be in Harlem during Black History Month stirs memories of its rich history, particularly the Harlem Renaissance.  Authors like Langston Hughes, Claude McKay, Zora Neale Hurston and Jean Toomer among others, inspired millions of people with the idea that there was no ceiling on our possibilites or potential.  Speaking to a new generation of young people - today in Harlem - I hope to remind them that the same potential for greatness that their forbearers exhibited, resides within them as well.

So, if you are in NYC tomorrow, meet me at the Hip Hop Culture Center or the House of Hoops!

What’s your Red Rubber Ball?!
