”House of Hoops Presents Kevin Carroll
An agent for social change shows young NYC athletes how to use sports to make their dreams a reality.
Harlem has long been a neighborhood where dreams are built and stars are born. The Apollo Theater has been a launching pad for countless performers while the neighborhood courts and fields have always been a breeding ground for the world’s greatest sports talent. To continue to provide opportunities and inspiration for young talent to reach their dreams Nike has partnered with House of Hoops to present the athletic instructor, author, speaker and agent for social change Kevin Carroll…
Kevin will share his message with young New York City athletes February 22nd in Harlem at the Hip-Hop Culture Center on Frederick Douglass Boulevard.
After the seminar Kevin will be hosting a book signing at the “House of Hoops, giving out 100 free autographed copies of Rules of the Red Rubber Ball (ESPN Books).

To be in Harlem during Black History Month stirs memories of its rich history, particularly the Harlem Renaissance. Authors like Langston Hughes, Claude McKay, Zora Neale Hurston and Jean Toomer among others, inspired millions of people with the idea that there was no ceiling on our possibilites or potential. Speaking to a new generation of young people - today in Harlem - I hope to remind them that the same potential for greatness that their forbearers exhibited, resides within them as well.
So, if you are in NYC tomorrow, meet me at the Hip Hop Culture Center or the House of Hoops!
What’s your Red Rubber Ball?!

I am doing a sermon soon to challenge the people of our church to Dream big Dreams. We are in the Heart of Tulsa Oklahoma and we want to make a huge impact on our area. I wanted to know the best way of getting about 200 of your DREAM braclets. I have not been able to find them online. Thank you for all you do and please know you have been an inspiration to me and my ministry.

I play basketball in college and each player on the team has to do something before each game to inspire the team. I used to have one of the DREAM bracelets but it broke and I would really like to get them to inspire my team this year. If you could help me out on where I could buy about 20 of the DREAM bracelets that would be great!
Thank you,

Hi, I heard you speak at the ICMA Annual Conference in Minneaoplis in September of 2005. At the end of your speech, gave the audience your DREAM bracelets. My long-time friend, who was with me during your session, picked up two of the bracelets. When he asked me to marry him on 1/1/10, he gave me one of the bracelets and told me that he had held on to it from that day with the hope that some day we would be together. It was his dream for us. I would like to share that dream with our family and friends when we have a reception to celebrate our wedding later this year. Could you please tell me where I can purchase the bracelets. Thank you for inspiring us both professionally and personally!
