Sport for Social Change

One definition is, sport that can "focus the world's attention on...global concerns. Sport transcends barriers that divide societies, providing powerful tools to support health, education, environmental, and other public initiatives.

Sport is universal, an inclusive international language. Sport provides respite and offers hope and excitement to participants, spectators and fans. Sport raises the spirits of everyone involved.

Much more than a mere recreational activity, sport teaches leadership, teamwork, cooperation and exemplary behavior in both victory and defeat." (From Annette Richardson's NYC 2012 Olympic Bid Report)

Sport educates, liberates and stimulates the mind, body and spirits the youth in all of us. The Olympic Charter "attempts to place sport at the service of the harmonious development of humankind, with a view to promoting a peaceful society."

To that end, numerous organizations including, Right To Play, Play For Peace and Global Youth Partnership for Africa, are using sport to create cross-cultural understanding, educational opportunity and social justice. Kevin is one of the drum majors in the movement to leverage ‘Sport for Social Change.' KC's burning desire is to create a cooperative alliance among these inspired actors that will magnify this great work.
